Contact lenses. I have been wearing specs and contacts for over 20 years..?
My prescripion has been same for years and all I want to do is buy my daily contact lenses as and when I want them, i.e. I don't want to be on a 'scheme', direct debit, etc. Just go in or order and pay in the good old fashioned way! I have left my usual Optician because they were insisting I pay Direct Debit, but I don't want Lenses that often. I last got some lenses 3 months ago and the Opticians now want me to have another Test BEFORE they will supply me with any more. Why am I being asked for another £20!? I simply want to buy some Lens'. Any ideas?

Explain to your optician that you just don't wear them often enough for it to be worth you have them arrive in every month with a fresh batch, and that you've got boxes and boxes stacking up and it's probably going to take you a good year to get through them!
However I found with my optician that you need to have 2 separate eye tests - one for your glasses and one for your contacts, as the contacts go straight onto the eye, and they need to check the general health of your eyes, and not just your sight levels. My opticians ask me to put my contacts in at least an hour before I come for a contacts appointment so they can check the fit etc etc (i usually get my sight test done straight after). It's no good you shelling out for some new contacts if there's a problem developing and you might need some different contacts to accomodate this.
I'm the opposite in that i switched too direct debit because it worked out cheaper than paying for eye tests and contacts on top (but i do wear mine on a daily basis), but if you don't wear them often enough, then it's quite reasonable for you not to spend money on things you don't need so often!
