Am i going Blind?!

Question:

Am i going Blind?

I saw a documentry on TV about 5 weeks ago now, but I dont remember what it was called, i wasnt really taking much intrest in the programe, but just briftly watching it, i saw a young asian girl on the program and she had this rare illness where her eye-sight deteririated in a short period of time, leaving her blind. She was very young about 17 or 18. Does anyone know what this illness is called. Im scared i might have it. I keep waking up with all that nasty stuff in my eyes, even when i wash it out, i cant see clearly. My vision seems to be murky (as if the room is filled with smoke.) Can any one help?

Answers:

I think the best thing you can do is go to the opticians. There are loads out there which offer free eye tests and if you describe your murky vision to them, they'll be able to test you for various possible illnesses.

It could be something as simple as a slight infection. It's pretty unlikely that you've got the same rare illness as the one you saw in a documentary. Head off to the opticians, it'll put your mind at ease and you can get treatment if you need any.

As for her age (illness aside), last time I was there the optician told me that the time when a person's eyes change the most tends to be in their teenage years. I'm 19 and he was telling me that my eyes have almost stopped deteriorating which is quite common in short-sighted people my age.

It's probably nothing serious and the chances that you're going to go blind are absolutely tiny. Best to go and get checked out though. That way you'll feel happier and if there was anything wrong, the sooner they find out the better. Good luck and try not to worry too much.
