Contact lenses make eyes red?!

Question:

Contact lenses make eyes red?

I used to wear contact lenses all the time, and then took a 2 year break wearing glasses only. I've started wearing contact lenses again and my eyes are red all the time - what can i do about this? Even if it's been an hour while I've got my lenses on, my eyes are so red.

Answers:

Hmmm...think about what may be different from the last time you wore contacts. Are they a different type or brand? Are you using a different type of solution? Are you leaving them in longer, or even overnight? Living somewhere different (dust/pollen in the air is different)? Doing a different type of work (lots of computer time for example)? Try to figure that out and it may solve your problem. My doctor told me it is best to always use name brand contact solution, to get a brand new contact case several times a year, to go at least one day a week wearing my glasses instead to give my eyes a rest, and to always remember to blink when using a computer or reading! If you are doing everything the same as last time you wore contacts, perhaps your eyes are just having a hard time adjusting back to contacts again after glasses. I'd give it some time, and if it doesn't improve in a couple weeks, definitely see or call your eye doctor for some help. Best wishes!
