Answers:

Actually "pink eye" is really a viral infection, usually caused by an adenovirus and they are numbered. That's why antibiotics don't really help. Pinkeye itself is very, very contagious and can be spread through a school or business or church very rapidly. It's a self limiting disease. Lasts a few weeks.

Drops are used to relieve symptoms of the discomfort caused by the outer layers of the cornea becoming involved. That's called Keratitis.

If you find a small node in front of the ear on that side, not the jaw joint, but just in front of that, and it's mobile and a little tender, then the disease is an adenoviral one. the PINKEYE one. The tears are clear and one tears a lot. Those tears are infectious. If the stuff coming out is thick or pus like, it's from a bacterial infection or superinfection (the viral one leads to weakening of the immune response and the bacteria take advantage).

Sunlight won't bother "it", but if the eye is sensitive, it could bother you. The light being bothersome causes one to avoid light...that's called photophobia and is one of the symptoms of pinkeye.

Washing hands, using your own towel in the bathroom, not touching anyone Else's face or hands or eyes or their washcloth, or towel...etc. will help limit the spread. Cleaning the sink and handles, including the toilet handle with cleanser...good idea.
