Monitor eye strain?!

Question:

Monitor eye strain?

Hi
I was having trouble with computer eye strain - I bought a Samsung 912N monitor and a anti-glare anti-radiation screen - I tried changing the refresh rate, and brightness, and it still hurts my eyes a lot - my laptop screen doesn't bother me. What can I do, if I need to buy a monitor - what kind should I get? I tried everything - I even went to the eye doctor and he gave me some drops but they burned so I quit them. I'm open to ideas. I've tried computer glasses, everything I can think of. Nothing helps me.

I do have astigmatism and I went to the eye doctor and my prescription for glasses was much stronger than before - I have new glasses also.

Like I said, I've done everything I can t hink of. I've already gone to the Opthamologist, not an Optometrist.

Answers:

My job entails 100% computer use...and 100% eye strain...I got one of those monitor filters to put in front of my monitor...and that helps a bit...also taking frequent breaks throughout the day (even 5 minutes to just get up every 50-60 minutes and walk around helps). If the drops burn, check with your ophthalmologist to see if there is anything he can give you that would be less irritating to your eyes.

I use preservative free artificial tears...just to make sure my eyes aren't dry and that helps too...the brand I use is Refresh Plus...they do not burn at all. I'm real sensitive to the preservatives in most eyedrops...maybe you have the same thing.

I have a Dell monitor...not sure if it is antiglare or not, but the monitor filter I use really helps...and it wasn't too expensive...can get them at any office supply store or computer store.

Before investing in another computer monitor, I'd try the "simple fixes" first. and also recheck with your ophthalmologist for additional ideas...they have more knowledge than anyone because they know YOUR eyes.
