Why do my eyes always hurt?!

Question:

Why do my eyes always hurt?

My eyes hurt a lot. They especially hurt when a fan blows at them. They just feel very tired all of the time and very weak and I always feel like closing them.... it kind of feels like the feeling you get in your eyes after crying. What could this mean? I don't wear glasses, and I don't have trouble seeing, and I have light eyes. I get no less than 10 hours of sleep a night, so I don't think it has to do with not getting enough sleep.

Thanks

Answers:

I am an ABO Certified Optican so I do have some experience with this. Hurting eyes can have a number of problems, some simple, sone not. It could be something simple as dry eyes where you would be able to take an OTC eye drop to help keep your eyes moist. However, it could also mean something more serious such as Glaucoma. Glaucoma is an eye disease that creates pressure inside the eye which can cause blindness. You didn't mention when your last eye exam was, but it is recommended to get a yearly exam, that will include a Glaucoma test, eye dilation, and of course the refraction. Good luck.
