Contact Troubles...?!

Question:

Contact Troubles...?

I have Acuvue Advanced with Hydraclear contacts. I change them once a month, as my optomotrist told me.

But I sometimes accidentally sleep with my contacts in, and then my contacts dry out.

I dont own a pair of glasses, so my contacts are all I have. But lately I've been finding that my eyes, after sleeping, even without my contacts in, are incredibly dry, and sometimes even the air from my fan can burn quite badly. Other times my vision will just blur out from my contacts being dry, which also burns.

I've forced myself to cry, just to get a few tears to help un-dry them, which has been the best solution so far.

I've tried different kinds of eyedrops.. but none have seemed to work.

Is there anything that I can do to prevent my eyes from drying out so much?

Answers:

i agree with ilovemyson on all points.

but just to add some things:

*all* acuvue products are designed and marketed as a "two-week" replacement. there is no "monthly" acuvue advance. that literally does not exist.

that being said, the doctor can make the final decision and "recommend" whatever he/she wants to. but i am telling you that vistakon/johnson & johnson (makers of acuvue) never intended acuvue advance to last more than 14-15 wears. and certainly not 30 days of wear, especially if some of those days you are SLEEPING in them. if you are really wearing your contacts as you describe above, then you are not using them as they are designed to be used. you are "abusing" them.

*all* acuvue products are designed for daily wear (meaning dont sleep in them), and 2-week disposable (meaning replace them after 14 wears)
