Amber, blue and clear lenses for glasses: what do they do? Which is best?!

Question:

Amber, blue and clear lenses for glasses: what do they do? Which is best?

Answers:

Well depending on what you are using your glasses for will decide which tint is right for you!!!
For your everyday pair of glasses having clear lenses with an antireflection coating (to reduce glare) would be the best so you can see inside and in dark light conditions. The antireflection coating is great for night driving and computer use. Also you could get transitions lenses that change from clear inside to a tint when exposed to UV light. One downside of regular transitions is that they do not darken fully in the car.
As for the benefits of the other tint colors:
Amber/Brown tint is great for variable lighting conditions and provides good contrast. They are a general purpose type of lens good for driving, sports, outdoor activities etc...
Blue tints: light blue tint can be used for fashion purposes. Not a good idea to use them for outdoor use because a blue tint can increase glare.
Green tints: Offer the most amount of contrast, great for sports like golf!
There are many more options when it comes to lenses and tints...these are only a few! I would talk to your local optician about what lens options would be right for you and your lifestyle!
I have posted a couple links with more info :)
Hope this helps a bit!
