Where's the best place to buy eyeglasses?!

Question:

Where's the best place to buy eyeglasses?

I mean the best selection. Price is secondary.

Answers:

To specifically address "best selection," the mall, Costco or Lens Crafters is your best bet.

Really, it depends how long you want to keep your glasses. If you want a poor quality pair & great selection....go to the mall. These glasses are usually poor quality and don’t seem to last more than a 6 – 8 months. If you want the best quality, your Best bet is certainly an Optometrist in private practice. To get good quality and a good selection, I would call a few doctors’ offices and ask the secretary how big the frame dispensary is. When you get glasses from a private practice you will also have the glasses adjusted to fit your face perfectly. At places in the mall it is basically, "Here are your glasses, do they feel comfortable?" No?....oh.

I am an optometric intern. Patients often come in because their glasses broke...9 times out of 10 it is because they had cheep glasses that they got from some place like Lens Crafters or some place in the mall. The other 10% of the time it is because they were playing racket ball or something.

Best of Luck!
