Use windex (geniec or store brand does not matter)?!

Question:

Use windex (geniec or store brand does not matter)?

I have these type of lens in my glasses

Slimlite ™

Thinner than plastic
Light weight
Shatter resistant
Ultra Violet protection acts like sunscreen for your eyes
Available in all lens prescriptions

But when I clean them with a lint free cloth and windex or all purpose cleaner it makes the lens get some sort of bubble like it's cracking/scratched.

Should I just stick with water cause the cleaner that they sell at the lens store cost 10.00 for small bottle

Answers:

Hun you should really not use windex and especially not all purpose cleaner. Strong chemicals will damage the coatings on your lenses... and it sounds like they already did some damage! The coating should not be bubbled at all.... if you take them back to the store they may have some sympathy for you and replace your lenses. I do have a safe alternative that is cheaper and works great for cleaning glasses and it wont damage the coatings on your lenses. Get a clean spray bottle and fill it 3/4 with water, add a few squirts of a MILD dish detergent like Dawn and add a little bit of rubbing alcohol! Works like a charm! Once the AR coating is damaged there is nothing you can do to change that.... take them back to the store they may be able to strip off the coating... or maybe even replace the lenses if they are feeling generous!
Good luck with everything and in the future remember do not use windex or any cleaning products on your glasses it will ruin the coatings. :)
