People think i'm crying / tearing but i'm not?!

Question:

People think i'm crying / tearing but i'm not?

EVERY time when i yawn, my eyes water and i try to make it look as if i'm rubbing my eyes so that people don't think that i'm crying out of sadness. why do my eyes do this? do i have hyperactive tear ducts or something?

no one believes me when i tell them that i just yawned and that's why my eyes are watery...they all think i'm sad or getting emotional about something! it's really very annoying when people refuse to believe you when you're telling the truth.

i've always wondered about why this happens and need an answer from someone who is a health professional specialising in eye health OR a medical student who can provide a serious and informed answer. thanks in advance!

Answers:

im a medical student, and from what i know, tearing from yawning is completely normal, you can also tear if your eyes are excessively dry. my eyes also tear when i yawn. and yes it is agrrivating when others think your crying about something. rubbing your eyes can irritate them and make them water more. Tearing is not an emergency, but can be very annoying and usually can be treated. call your health care provider if the tearing is prolonged unexplained tearing,
associated with pain in the eye, associated with tenderness around the nose or sinuses, red eyes, excess discharge. other than that. just say no im not crying and flick em off :D hope this helps .. .ten points? :D
