I feel like I have a cut on my left eye above my pupil. What could this be?!
Question:
I feel like I have a cut on my left eye above my pupil. What could this be?
I had on my contacts today and my left eye felt irritated most of the day. Once I took the contact out. My left eye turned red and started to water. What could be wrong with my eye? I am really worried and don't know what to do. Has anyone experienced this before? It feels like a small cut or something. Need suggestions on how to manage at home until I can get to the MD.
Answers:
Good news is, the eye heals very fast. If you have a corneal abrasion it could have been caused by a foreign object on your contact lens. You will need to thoroughly clean your lenses, or better yet, replace them with a new pair. You can apply a cool compress to your eye, and avoid bright light. Also you can take some ibuprofen to reduce any discomfort. If your eye isn't feeling better by the A. M. I would call my optometrist to be sure you don't have a more serious abrasion that requires some antibiotic treatment. You can always call your local Emergency room for some advice.
