Cogenital ptosis?!

Question:

Cogenital ptosis?

My daughter has congenital ptosis, but none of my family member has it, anyway she is 7 months and want to know if i should fix her eye, with surgery. Congenital ptosis is when the one ot both of the eyes are lower than regular, it can usually be mistaken for a lazy eye. I don't want her to grow up, and ask me what's wrong with her eye, or why other people at looking at her differently, or why her eyes don't look like everyone elses.

Answers:

if the ptosis is bad enough (low enough) to block the vision in that eye, then yes, you need to have it fixed surgically. a pediatric ophthalmologist would be the one for that.

if the vision is not being blocked, then its a cosmetic issue. that would be up to you (or her when she's old enough). i am personally a proponent of having obvious ptosis surgically corrected. usually the peds eye surgeons can do some pretty amazing cosmetic work in cases like these.
