INTACS with giant papillary conjunctivitis?!

Question:

INTACS with giant papillary conjunctivitis?

I have giant papillary conjunctivitis secondary to contact lens wear. It'd probably be more appropriate to say "had," because the bumps have resolved with steriod treatments, patanol, and...not wearing contacts for two years.
I'm wondering if INTACS would be a possibility for me, given that the allergic reaction that causes GPC is a response to protein build-up that accumulates on foriegn bodies--contact lenses in my case. Would this be a problem with INTACS?

Answers:

no, in theory it would not be a problem. i dont see how intacs could cause or exacerbate GPC, since they are buried beneath the epithelium or surface layer of your cornea. most GPC is caused/exacerbated by what i call "mechanical lid interaction" or the rubbing of the backside of your eyelid against something (like a contact lens). but intacs wouldnt have this problem b/c they are not exposed to the surface. nothing to "rub" the backside of the eyelid with.
