What is protein build-up on your eye?!

Question:

What is protein build-up on your eye?

i know that you dont want to much of it...but what exactly is it?

Answers:

Are you referring to a protein build-up on your contacts? Some people have a higher output of protein or calcium deposits on their contacts (these often clog the pores of the lenses or, in more extreme cases, form jelly-bumps on the lenses that can't be cleaned out of the lenses). For these patients more frequent disposal of contacts are recommended. Sometimes a system with enzyme cleaning or protein removers are better to use - it depends on what type of contact you're in and how severe the depositing is. If you have dry eye on top of this, the protein dries to the contact faster and is sometimes harder to clean from the lens - especially if the lenses are overworn. In these cases frequent use of rewetting drops and some other form of dry eye management is advisable.
Hope this helps . . .
