How safe is lasic?!

Question:

How safe is lasic?

what age is it best to get? and how much would the surgery cost? ive been wearing glasses since i was a small child and have been wearing contacts since highschool and its very annoying having to worry about how much your cantacts dry out your eyes and how glasses get in the way of alot of things...lasic safe and worth the money?

Answers:

I recently completed a five-month research project on Lasik. You must be 18 years old to have it done because by then, most people's vision has stabilized (this is an FDA requirement). The surgery costs about $2000 per eye in total and is usually not covered by insurance plans.

I spoke to many patients as part of my research, and most of them were very satisfied with their results. One man now has poor night vision and he saw halos around lights for about a month. The chance of your eyes being being harmed by Lasik increases with the strength of your prescription.

It's important to consider all the risks and side effects that an eye surgery may cause, and you should definitely talk to your optometrist.

Hope that helps!

oh PS, if you go see a Lasik surgeon, many of them do free consultations to see if you're a good candidate. Make sure you have a doctor you trust do your surgery and it's probably a good idea to talk to a few people who had it done so they can describe it to you.
