A contact ripped in my eye. It's possible scratched / ripped eye, what should I !

Question:

A contact ripped in my eye. It's possible scratched / ripped eye, what should I do?

I've had the problem before, I've been wearing contacts for 7 years now, and it was usually just 15 minutes of frustration trying to get it out. That is it.

But I guess I got a bit extra frustrated a few hours ago when trying to get them out, and I don't know if I got it out or not. My eye got SUPER red (half my eye was just ALL red) and it became VERY VERY lubricated. I think I may have scratched it. It's almost back to normal color (no longer bloodshot). When I apply pressure to my lower eyelid, it looks like a thin layer of a plastic-like thing is scruching up. It's not my contact though, and I think it may be a serious eye injury.

I have no pain with my eyes open, but closed it's def. uncomfortable :(.

Help :(.

I don't want to go to the emergency room for no reason. There is NO pain when my eye is open (or on a blink), and an annoying but tolerable amount of pain for extended time when it's closed.

There is no visible rip or tear, it's not bleeding, and think that going to the emergency room isn't necessary.

Answers:

you may have a corneal abrasion which will require antibiotic drops so that the abrasion does not develop into a more serious condition called corneal ulcer which can lead to blindness. i would make an appointment to see an ophthalmologist to prescribe drops asap.. good luck
