This symptom is a sign of alcohol abuse, the liver is not functioning properly. If it is not corrected you could have liver failure and die. It does take a while as the body tries to repair itself but the more abuse it gets, the less it can cope. If you are a drinker, please please go and get it sorted out by your doctor, it is reversible. I'm not trying to scare you but I have seen a few friends of mine die because of this.....it's not worth it, believe me.
