IOL Seclection?!

Question:

IOL Seclection?

I have slight long sight problem for my left eye. The right eye vision is normal, but unfortunately i have cataract in the right eye. I can read with out glasses with little dificulty. I consulted many doctors regarding cataract removal by surgery. They said that selection of IOL is by scanning so I need not use glasses after surgery, since I am not using glasses already.
I would like to hear the readers opinion about this.

Hello Sir
That was a nice question so let me answer it a bit in detail.
Cataract is a normal aeging process in which the lens of the eye becomes opaque and light no longer passes into the eye.
So we remove the cataract by a simple surgery called as Phacoemulsification in which ultrasonic waves are used to emulsify the cataract and the cataract is sucked out.

So after the cataract is removed we have to implant an IOL and they come in various sizes and Shapes.

The gross types are Rigid IOL( Older type) which needs a larger incision. Foldable IOL which are the newer types and can be used in a 2.5 Mm incision.

The foldable IOLs come in two forms, monofocal, in which you will have to wear glasses for reading after the surgery.

Multifocal IOL in which you dont have to wear glasses for both near and distance. These are the latest.

In multifocal we have a lot of types and the cost of the surgery depends on the type of multifocals we use.

The cost varies from 30000 rs per eye to 50000 rs per eye for the latest multifocal.
