UV light has been associated with disease entities in the eye. Among the common ones: cataracts, pterygiums, pingueculas etc. They will not appear on your eyes immediately after, but they just might appear earlier than expected.
If you HAVE to get on a tanning bed, it would be best to protect your eyes... and I guess also your skin. Thus if you really don't have to do it, it would be better not to.
