Answers:

I understand you mean congenital nystagmus and I think your question is whether or not you should consider having children because it is a genetic conditon that runs in your family? I don't think anyone answered your question actually but it was a bit difficult to understand. As far as genetic conditions I don't think it is like a risk of passing on a fatal birth defect. Are you open to adoption? If you want to have your own children you probably will go ahaed anyway. Your child may have vision issues. Do you have healthcare? Do you have an understanding of the condition? Do you have a supportive family? How was it played out in family memebers who have it? My son has aquired nystagmus from a head injury. He is 8 . Kids are curious as to why he is 'doing that thing with his eyes" the kids who knew him before are fine..because it's new and he has a confient personality it so far doesn't phase him. He is noticing some days at baseball he just can't hit the ball. He gets a lot of headaches now.I think from trying to read and focus. I am worried about how kids will be at Camp. I think to learn parenting styles thatgive your kids confidence and self esteem is a must esp. if they have other issues to deal with.We don't make a deal about his eyes and don't comment about it when they are out of control. My son so far has no vision loss, his eyes do move together and there is a chance it will get better or go away. My pediatrician syas because it's possible from an injury in Feb. his brain may heal whatever was injured.
Anyway if you have the means and ability to give your children information healthcare, love, understanding, empathy and the tools to deal with social situations first, then you should consider having kids.
