Can I use my clear contact lens prescription to buy colored contacts.?!
Question:
Can I use my clear contact lens prescription to buy colored contacts.?
I want to buy colored contacts online.
Answers:
No, you need a prescription for the colored contact lenses also. Let's say you wear Acuvue Oasys contacts (clear), and you just want Acuvue color contacts. Sounds simple. But the color contacts are a different base curve than clear, just by one eesnsy tenth of a millimeter, and it's considered a different model of contact lens. (Like cars: different models of Toyota). And the doctors are responsible for the fit of the contacts, so they generally want you to have a trial set that they can examine on your eyes, before writing an Rx (plus I really do think it's sometimes a bit of a money-maker for the drs to do it that way . . .)
Anyway, call your eye doctor and ask if a color contact prescription can be written based on your last exam. Sometimes, they will (depends on different factors).
At your next eye exam, be sure to ask for a prescription for both color and clear contacts.
