Whats wrong with my eye sight?!

Question:

Whats wrong with my eye sight?

I was told i have Miopia or something like that.
I wear glasses, but sometimes i see blurry still and i have to rub my eyes in order to see fine again..

Is that cause i have Miopia or what?
and i dont really know what miopia is so can someone tell me?

Ive had glasses for about 5 years now.... but i got these last year..

Answers:

Any prescription with a minus (-) sign in front indicates you have myopia (nearsightedness). It means that you have trouble seeing far away...but in moderate to severe myopia you will not be able to see well at any distance.
When you are nearsighted it just basically means your eye is longer then normal and the light coming into your eye is not falling onto your retina correctly, making you not be able to see clearly.
The higher the number of your prescription the worse your eyesight is example: -0.25 is a mild prescription and -3.50 is a moderate prescription and -8.00 is a strong prescription (all prescriptions are in quarter increments)
Nearsightedness may get worse from childhood to adolescence and usually levels off in late teens/early twenties. Myopia is very common and can be corrected with glasses and contact lenses.
Hopefully this helps a bit :)
