Why are some people more succeptable to redeye than others?

my friend never does, even when everyone else does? exactly the same pose, exactly the same direction of looking, straight into the camera...its doesnt make sense...what is different about their eyes?

I didnt know it would put additional details like that, so i shall put it clearer... she wears contact lenses, so could it be that.. i do hope it isnt something nasty as you suggest... she is 18

here is an example photo, of just me and here, its very visible that have redeye, she doesnt and anyoe in the background, u can make out their red eye as well..i have more pics if u need more proof.

well, red eye is a reaction of the flash. the flash will enter the eye, and pass through the pupil (which is actually a hole) and reflect off the retina, and show the retina's true color (red). Thats why some cameras have the double flash. the first flash closes the pupil, and the second is for the picture. it could possibly be that your friend has smaller then normal pupils? or mabey hes just lucky all the time! :-)
