One eye deeper in than the other?!

Question:

One eye deeper in than the other?

Well, my left eye seems to be deeper in then my right eye. A lot deeper in. When I put my hands on my eye, I feel a difference. My left eye is hurting too. Does anyone no why and how to fix it? Will it just go back into place? or will my eye fall in (jk)? Plz if anyone knows, It would be a big help to me.

To get a better grip on exactly what might be going on a full eye examination with a complete ocular health work up is necessary. But, there are some things that could possibly be happening.

First, when did you first notice the difference and what drew your attention to it. It is possible that this is just simply an assymetry in the structure of your two orbital bones that has been there all your life. You may have just simply noticed it recently.

It is also possible that if indeed this is a disease process that the problem is really associated with the eye that is further forward. This condition is called exophthalmos. It can be caused by a space occupying lesion behind the eye and therefore can cause pain. But, since you feel pain associated with the left eye, this is probably not the problem.

Seldom do you find a disease process in an adult that causes an eye to move deeper into the eye without a dramatic and noticeable change in ones vision. Since you really didn't mention this as a symptom I would be surprised if this is the case.

Having said all this, my bet is that this is a long standing assymetry that you have just noticed. But, the only way to know for sure is as I said earlier, go in and have a good thorough eye exam. It will set your mind at ease if there is no problem. If a problem does exist, then your doctor will be able to set out a course of treatment to deal with the problem. Have a great night and a wonderful tomorrow.
