What is the best color sunglass lens for green eyes.?!

Question:

What is the best color sunglass lens for green eyes.?

I know that the thing to look for is UV protection and polarized and all that but what is the best for green eyes. I know people say it doesn't matter, but it seems like there should be some answer. What color is the best lens for green eyes?

Answers:

There isn't a better lens color for people with green eyes. Its actually all a matter of preference. In my experience, gray is a better multi-purpose lens and most of my patients seem to prefer it. I also prefer it. Gray lenses keep your colors truer. Brown lenses tend to make everything look, well, brown. And some people like that. Some people prefer amber lenses - mostly truck drivers because they do a lot of driving.

Polarized lenses, in most professionals' opinion, are the BEST lenses and are available in gray, brown, and yellow. Brown lenses are great for golfers because they can distinguish between the textures down the fairway and on the green. Gray lenses are great for most other outdoor activities, including driving and fishing. Fishermen love polarized lenses because it cuts the reflection off of the surface of the water and they are able to see right down through it. Yellow lenses are great for shooters. We have had several patients who frequent the gun ranges and yellow lenses make the colors on the target pop out more.

People with light colored eyes tend to be more photosensitive so they generally want their lenses darker. But for most people unless you do fish, or golf, its all a matter of preference and what looks good with the frame you've selected. A lot of sunglass frames come in different colors with matched lenses.

But, as you already know, make sure whatever lenses you get are 100% UV protected. Don't assume that's what you're getting. Make sure you TELL them that's what you want...
