The eye doctor says that you should be able to see the letters (e.g., a small E) but it should be fuzzy around the edges.
I'm asking this because I feel as if everyone with "normal" vision is supposed to see things very clearly. Emphasize on very.
I've used a strong prescription for several years now, but I'm thinking that it's stronger than what's "normal".

I could give you the technical answer, but I don't know if it would serve your purpose. Here's a cut-down version. If you can see an optotype (letter) of a certain standardized size at 20 feet, you have 20/20 vision. If someone has 20/40 vision, he would need to stand 20 feet from an object that a person with 20/20 vision could see at a distance of 40 feet. If the vision is 20/80, the 20/20 person could stand 60 feet behind the 20/80 person and still read the same letter. Of course this is all in theory. Twenty-Twenty vision does not necessarily indicate "perfect" vision. There are several problems that could arise even in the face of 20/20 vision. You may have difficulty discerning contrast in certain levels of lighting, you may have a reduced field of vision, to name a couple. I don't know if this answers your question, but I gave it a shot!
