Anyone know of cornea latice dystophy?

i have this weird eye disease where i get what feels like a scratch on my eye out of the blue and i sit in the dark for a few days until it heals with medicine. does anyone have this too? or know more about what actually happens?


Answers:

Lattice Dystrophy is an inherited disorder and is the most common of the corneal dystrophies. What you are most likely experiencing is known as RCE or recurrent corneal erosion. This can be painful and is treated with a bandage contact lens and an drops or ointment. Some doctors prefer to use a pressure patch on the eye, but I find the bandage lens to work wonderfully and does not impair vision horribly. If the erosions are too frequent, PTK (phototherapeutic keratectomy) may be performed. This a laser procedure which attempts to strengthen the cornea in order to reduce the erosions. The worst case scenario involves corneal transplant. Please see the websites below.
