How long should you stay on the computer each day?!

Question:

How long should you stay on the computer each day?

Answers:

You should limit your computer usage. Unfortunately, in the world we live in where nearly EVERYONE uses a computer at either work or home, or both...that's almost impossible.

The key is to give your eyes a break every 30-45 minutes, if possible. If you have a job that requires a lot of data entry, you should try to take a break every 30-45 minutes and do something else - away from the computer for a few minutes and allow them to rest. Get up, walk around, get a drink, go to the bathroom - whatever...just get away from that monitor.

Staring at the computer causes SO much eyestrain. You tend to blink less and therefore your eyes tend to dry out. If you wear glasses, you should have an anti-reflective coating put on your lenses to reduce the amount of glare and reflection you get on the surface of your lenses, which results in even MORE eyestrain. The anti-reflective coating will get rid of that glare and reduce the amount of eyestrain. Ask your Optometrist for Zeiss or Crizal - 2 of the better coatings on the market. They can be a bit pricey, but worth EVERY PENNY to those of us who spend hours a day on the computer.
