Lasic eye surgury or not?!

Question:

Lasic eye surgury or not?

Are there any cons they do not let you know about? My eye doctor said not to without explanation.

Answers:

There is not surgery that is without risk. In the case of refractive surgery, the risk is very low if you have been screened properly for candidacy. I have been co-managing Lasik for 10 years. Most patients have only the side effects of dry eyes. Some have a little haze for the first few weeks. A few experience inflammation that is treatable. There are other problems that can arise, such as corneas that are too thin to maintain the proper shape causing irregular astigmatism and undesirable vision. This can be avoided in most cases with proper screening ahead of time. Go to a reputable surgery center and ask to be screened. You should be given an informed consent document which should detail the procedure and possible risks. If you are uncomfortable, go to another and have a second opinion.
