Im getting contacts?

im getting contacts tommorow and i just wanted to no if theyre are any problems with them

Answers:

Contacts are great, I've had to wear glasses since I was 2, (I got contacts when I was about 15) and I really appreciate the freedom of not having anything on my face. Especially when I want to wear sunglasses.

First off, it might take you awhile to get used to putting them in, especially if you are not used to putting things near your eye. (It took me a half and hour to put mine in the first time) This will change as you get used to them.

It also might sting a bit, but it'll go away, that usually means you had something on your hands, contacts or eye when you put your lenses in.

Like others have said, make sure your hands are 100% clean before handling your contacts, putting them in or taking them out. You should clean them everynight, you will get a storage case, make sure to change it every so often. You can buy them at stores if you need to but you can often find them in multipacks of solutions. When I first started wearing contacts, I tended to get eye infections, despite the fact I would wash my hands, probably because something I was using was contaminated, so make sure to keep everything clean, if you do get pink eye, throw away your solution, case, contacts you were wearing and take care not to infect the other eye, (if they aren't both infected).

It is important to have good solution I like OptiFree, but I now use AQuify, which I personally prefer, but whatever you choose make sure you rinse off your contacts and store them in solution while you are not wearing them. In a tight bind, water will work for storing, but you should rinse them off with a disinfectant, (most storage solutions also disinfect) before replacing them in your eye.

I would also reccommend having multiple storage cases and bottles of solution located in places, home, school, work, the car, suitcase/toiletries bag. That way if anything should happen you can clean and store your contacts. (You wouldn't believe how easy it is to forget these things on trips!)

Depending on your contacts, you'll need to replace them everyday/every 2 weeks/every month etc... You should (at least at first) follow these rules. But contacts, especially if you care for them, can lost longer than they are supposed to. I'm supposed to change mine every month, but I usually forget, (I'm also rather poor and cannot afford to keep buying new ones so I make them last as long as possible) However, if you notice they begin to feel dry, and stingy and your vision is not as good, change them.

Some people choose to sleep in their contacts, depending on the kind you get, you might be able to as well. I personally don't like it, it always makes my contacts feel dry.

It is also good to keep your glasses, (if applicable) or have a updated prescription set, just because especially at first, it will be tiring to wear your contacts, and there will be days (or nights) when you just don't want to wear your contacts.

If your contacts feel odd, and move on your eye, something might be wrong, if you have toric lenses, sometimes it takes a minute for them to settle so unless it does't work itself out shortly take them out, rinse, and replace. Also, make sure you keep your contacts separated, and know which one goes for which eye. You don't want cross-contamination or to have funky vision.

Good Luck!
