Some questions about laser eye surgery???

1. How much is it?
2.What exactly do they do to you?
3.How effective is it?(how well does it work)

Answers:

General price range for LASIK is between $1500 to $2000. You can find less expensive places, but if your prescription is above what THEY consider normal, the price will go up considerably.

You first are given a sedative (to calm you), then eye drops are dispensed to numb your eye. The surgeon will then place an instrument called a microkeratome on your eye. The instrument is held in place by a light vacuum. Once the vacuum is started, the microkeratome is turned on, making a clean incision into your cornea. It does not take the cornea completely off...a flap is made. After the microkeratome is removed, you will hear a series of snaps, that is the laser doing it's job. Once the laser is finished, the doctor will place the flap back, smooth it and you should be able to see without glasses or contacts.

Depending on the patient, most of the time it successful. There are always a few instances where a patient will have some trouble, usually with glare or halos.
