Blood shot eyes?

My eye is really bloodshot and i first thought it might be pink eye but its just really watery and it doesnt itch at all. Im getting junk in the corner of my eye though. Does anyone know what it might be? i dont think its allergies cuz ive never had eye problems before. I do wear contacts so i took them out and ive been waiting a few hours and its still watery and blood shot but it doesnt hurt. any help? ANything i can do or should i just wait and go to the doctor? thanks for any ideas!!

You could have pink eye. Viral. Very contagious. Check and see if on that side there's a small bump just in front of your ear, near where your jaw joint is. Might be a bit tender. If it's there, then you have and adenoviral conjunctivitis, or pink eye and everyone around you will get it too. Washing hands is the best way to stop the spread.

Lasts a week or two, then goes away. If you start to get a foreign body feeling in the eye, then the cornea has become involved. Antibiotics don't really help as it's a viral problem, but there are some antiviral meds out there now. Have to see your ophthalmologist to see if it IS pinkeye.

If it itches, it's allergic related. You can get Vasocon-A or Naphcon-A or any generic of the same, over the counter. It used to be prescription only, but not anymore, and it stings a lot, but it'll help with your symptoms.
