Astigmatism?!

Question:

Astigmatism?

I am worried / curious if anyone knows what are the long - term effects of having astigmatism in your eyes?
I cannot see writting too well like in books, on product labels... and often I need the magnifyer to read the monitor print. I am wondering if it will progressively get even worst as i get older.... I am 46yo now.....yea I wear glasses too but this is with the glasses on...with them off it is really hard to read...can't even read the time from the digital clock without being "right on top of it."

Answers:

I'm 25 years old and I also have astigmatism. I've had glasses just for distance for about 4 years now. My prescription has increased once in these for years. I noticed when I wasn't able to read things as well as when I first got my glasses. A trip to the eye doctor insured the fact that my eyes had gotten a little worse. Our television is about 7 feet away from the couch, give or take... and I can't see or read many of the commercials, due to the colors of text with the background color and the fact that everything looks blurred and nearly all letters look like another letter.

So to answer your question, yes your eyes might get worse, but I think if you're having problems now with your glasses on you should set yourself up with an appointment to get that checked out. Squinting with glasses on merits new ones.
