Bad Vision Anyone?

I'm really young and I already have extremely bad vision. My right eye is -9.00 diopters, my left -7.00.

Could LASIK entirely cure it? Also, I have a question about LASIK. Let's say my vision is -9.00D (which it is) and a laser that cures up to -7.00 is used on it. Would I be left with -2.00D?

The answer to your last question is yes. But my question would be - why would you want to laser to -2 D?

I'm not sure if LASIK is approved for powers of -9 D. You say you are young. This would mean that you have to wait anyway for a stable strength to have any refractive surgery done. Personally, I don't recommend LASIK -especially with your eye strength.

You may want to look into phakic IOLs (Intra ocular lenses.) Remember though that this is an invasive eye operations with all the possible risks and complications.

The larger powers tend not to be done because of the amount of corena that will need to be removed. Doing the eye operation twice does not prevent this. Besides, no good eye doctor in the world will cicumvent the restrictions in this way.

If you get it done, then get it done at once. After reading on internet I realize that both LASIK and LASEK is approved for your strength (depending ofcourse of the exact situation). Go to a good clinc and be well informed. It is always good to get a second or a third opinion before you jump in and make your choice.
