LASER for cataracts?!

Question:

LASER for cataracts?

Is there such a thing as LASER treatment for cataracts?

Answers:

Technically speaking, there is a new mahine for cataract removal which uses Erb: YAG laser. However, this machine isn't commercially available yet (as far as I know) and thus PRACTICALLY speaking, there really is no LASER Cataract removal.

What is in common usage is (as was already mentioned) phacoemulsification. This involves NO FORM OF LASER whatsoever. In some areas of the world however, out of simplicity's sake, it is explained/called "laser". This is explanation, however, is not correct.
