Can I use regular eye drops and prescription eye drops together?!

Question:

Can I use regular eye drops and prescription eye drops together?

I have pink eye and my doctor gace me Tobramycin eye drops. My eye is still red and it looks crappy and its to the point I dont even wanna go outside cuz it just looks weird. Can I put over the counter eye drops in that are designed to get rid of red eyes, plus use the stuff my doctor gave me to treat it? I just want to get rid of the reddness asap! :(

Answers:

I would not use any OTC drops unless you've first called your doctor. And to be honest, having a "pink" eye is part of the infection, hence the term Pink Eye. I don't know that regular over the counter drops will really work all that well, anyway. As soon as you are on the Tobramycin for a few days, the redness should start to dissipate. But that redness is part of the infection, so as soon as the infection starts to clear up, so should the redness. How long have you been on the Tobramycin? In order get that infection cleared up, make sure you use the drops EXACTLY as directed by your doctor. its important that you NOT skip any doses.

Hope your eyes are healthy again soon!!!
