Can I wear contacts in the pool? Or should I take them out?!

Question:

Can I wear contacts in the pool? Or should I take them out?

If i do take them out, i will not be able to see. Someone please help me! I want to be able to see at the pool!

Answers:

Well firstly are they daily disposables? If so then you can wear them in the pool then take them out immediately after swimming and throw them away and put in new ones. If not then you should not wear your contacts when swimming.
Soft contacts soak in anything they can and bacteria can get into your lenses which can cause a bad infection. So you do not want to continue wearing contacts that you wore in a pool. Also the chemicals will get into your contacts as well and irritate your eyes. But an infection would be the thing to worry about the most.

An infection from Acanthamoeba can be very serious and very hard to treat.

"Acanthamoeba is a microbe that is very common in the environment, including in tap water. It has two forms: the trophozoite and the cyst. The infective form is the trophozoite, which can change into a cyst and survive a long time. These trophozoites and cysts can stick to the surface of your contact lenses and then infect your eye."

Apparently this infection is difficult to treat and can cause blindness so i think its best to be safe rather than sorry and not wear your contacts unless they are disposed after swimming.

This microbe can be absorbed into your contact and you will not be able to "clean" it so it comes out.
Have you ever considered prescription swimming goggles?
Other then that wear daily disposables when swimming and keep your eyes closed so they do not fall out.... always bring another pair to wear after your done swimming :)
Hope that helps hun :)
