Eyes that are solid black no white on the eyeball?!

Question:

Eyes that are solid black no white on the eyeball?

Ok I was in the store and as I was turning the corner of the aisle I I was reading a label on something when I almost bumped into a gentlemen as I looked up I was beyond frightened, The guy I bumped into had solid black eyeballs, There was no white part anywhere , It was a dark black like as if the pupils had dialated to cover the entire eye, I later seen him in line at the register and i felt bad cause I realize its not something he can help, I felt bad for reacting the way I did by jumping back, Can anyone tell me what the medical term for this may be. Thanks

i honestly do not beleive in any way it was contacts or special effects. a person wanting to get a reaction would not look as sad as this guy did, and when i say i bumped into him i mean it literally,

Answers:

By your description of "no white at all",. I don't think its aniridia. An iridia will look like the patient has no iris at all or an all black iris. The sclera is not affected in aniridia.

A disease condition that comes to mind with the phrase "no white at all" is buphthalmos or megalo-cornea. In this disease condition, the cornea is larger than normal and fills up the whole inter-palpebral space and thus no sclera is visible between the eye lids.
