Redness around pupil?!

Question:

Redness around pupil?

Everytime I take off my contacts(and even when they're on), regardless of the length I have the contacts on for, My eyes start getting redder and redder, especially the lining around my pupils. This is apparent about 2 or so hours after I initially put the contacts in.

I'm using a biomedics 55, the first one that I had. I've tried using 'Clear Eyes' but they're only temporary and don't really do anything.

Should I try buying eye drops for contacts lenses? Or perhaps I should change my contact brand?

--The redness is basically only in one eye, the other eye isn't nearly as bad.
--Also, My eyes are extremely veiny when i have the contacts in/just after I take them off.

Thanks for your replies

Answers:

It could be Corneal Neovascularization . . .an abnormal ovegrowth of vessels onto your cornea from lack of oxygen to the cornea, most often seen with contact lens wearers. It can be resolved with less wearing time, or contacts with more breathability. As we get older, our eyes may demand more oxygen, so contacts that have been working for years may need an update.

Corneal neovascularization can take weeks/months to heal completely, depending on how long your dr instructs you to stop wearing contacts, or how limited your wearing time is.

**You did say vessel growth around your pupil . . .the cornea is the outer part of the eye, circular, directly covering your pupil and iris only. A lot of people think the cornea is the white part of your eye (it's not).

You should stop using Clear Eyes -- it's a basal cell constricter (shrinks vessels): it's a temporary fix, and if you keep using it, those vessels get a 'rebound effect' and keep coming back. Artificial tears instead may help, although it's not going to fix your problem.
