My left eye has been twitching for months now but only the top lid any idea what is going on??

This is most likely "myokymia" a twitch of the eyelid. It can be caused by stress, too much caffeine, not enough rest, etc. It can take months to resolve, but is typically harmless, just annoying. If it's really involved, you may want to have it checked out. In severe cases, an injection of botulinum toxin my help, but I understand it's very painful.
