Has anyone any experience, good or bad, with Ortho K lenses?!
Question:
Has anyone any experience, good or bad, with Ortho K lenses?
Thinking of having them. I have glasses, and use daily contact lenses occasionally. Too scared of surgery, not an option, so Ortho K is next best thing. Any help with facts appreciated. Thanks
Answers:
accelerated ortho-k is a great non-surgical LASIK alternative. i'm a big fan.
it works best on nearsighted prescriptions between -1.00 and -6.00 diopters with less than -1.50 diopters of astigmatism. it involves sleeping in a set of custom-made "retainer" lenses on a nightly basis (some lower Rx's can use them less than nightly).
the pros: nonsurgical, reversible, see well during waking hours w/o glasses or contacts
the cons: still moderately expensive (usually around $400-$800 per eye), still have to take care of lenses (although the lenses stay at your house in your bathroom!)
