Can eyes rapidly change color?!

Can eyes rapidly change color?

Ok. I have what I've referred to as "Hazel" eyes. They are generally varying shades of green and brown, and, over the years (I'm 36), I've seen tons of different greens and browns in my eyes, with the color on the outside of the iris sometimes a brown, and sometimes a green.

I've always just accepted that my eyes change color, and went with the seemingly popular opinion that this occured mainly due to mood. I feel pretty certain that my eyes get much browner when I'm angry, and much greener when I'm sad. Apart from that, though, I've never done any solid research. I've also never witnessed, with absolute certainty, my eyes change color within the space of a day or two, or less.

I've done alot of research on the internet, and can't seem to find a solid answer.

Can a person's eyes change color rapidly? Apart from exposure to sun, can other things like mood and background colors cause this change? If "hazel" is a color, what do we call eyes that change colors rapidly? Thanks.

Having worked for years with Ophthalmologists/Optometrists I don't believe I have ever encountered this situation however,the raised level of oxygen in a persons system or the lowered oxygen level in a person,the increased blood flow or the decreased blood flow that people experience in mood swings,stress,anxiety etc could certainly explain some of what you say you experience.
I have hazel eyes and I have noticed that sometimes my eyes will appear more blue than at other times but I have always given it to the fact it is probably a compliment of the color I am wearing at the time.
Most often the color you wear closest to your face can make your eyes appear to be different hues of the hazel color and verses the color changing I would be more inclined to believe it is a clothing issue more than an eye issue.
