What is the best age to get contacts?

I've heard that you should get contacts when your around 16 years old, but also I've seen small kids with contacts. Your advice.

i got mine when i was in the 7th grade. i think it all depends on ur responsibility and maturity level for your age. not being able to take care of contacts might result in an eye-infection. personally i love having contacts and i don't think i could ever go back to wearing my glasses full time. if the person considering contacts swims a great deal or participates in sports and has really bad vision i think it would be a good idea to start wearing contacts. not only is it safer for some sports, but it also gives u more perifial vision.
