It really depends on several different factors - her prescription, how long she plans on wearing them daily, how good her tear quality is, etc.
If she just needs a standard spherical contact - Acuvues or Biomedics are good, reasonably priced lenses. Keep in mind that most (good) eye doctors fit with comfort and quality in mind, not how cheap the lenses are. Luckily, contact lenses have come a long way in the past couple of decades - they are less expensive and much better quality.
You also have to keep in mind that an exam for contact lenses is usually more expensive than an eyeglass exam because of the time involved for the doctor and his/her staff. There should be the initial fit, an insertion and removal/general care class, plus follow-up visits (sometimes 2 or 3) included in the price. The contact lenses themselves (except for the initial trial pair) are usually priced separately. Cleaning solutions (often a small starter kit is dispensed with the trial contacts) and rewetting drops can add to the overall cost of wearing contacts, too.
