First-time user of toric contact lenses with some questions?!

Question:

First-time user of toric contact lenses with some questions?

I'm 35 years old and have worn glasses since age 5 or 6. I got my custom-made toric lenses in the other day. My doctor told me to gradually get used to them (i.e., an hour a day, then keep adding an hour as I get comfortable, or even longer if I feel comfortable in them). Well, I love them so far, but a couple of questions:

1) Is it normal for images like on the TV and clock to be just as (if not more) crystal clear than my glasses, but when I try to read small font on a piece of paper or on a book, it gets out of focus? Is that just an adjustment? (If I blink my eyes for two seconds, my eyes will be focused to the small text again for a few minutes.)
2) It's easy to put the lens in my right eye (only takes one or two tries), but it takes much longer to put it in my left eye. In turn, it takes only one try to take it out of my left eye, but about 30 minutes to take it out of my right eye. Is this because the astigmitism on my left eye is a little worse?

(to be continued)

3) The eye doctor gave me some allergy drops to use prior to using my lenses. Two nights ago, I used the allergy drops and the lenses did not hurt at all when I put them in. Last night, I made the mistake of not putting the allergy drops in, and my eyes stung for about 15 seconds after I put them in, but that went away abruptly and it was if my eyes never stung at all. Is this because I didn't use my allergy drops that time?

Answers:

1) It is normal with toric lenses to have that few second adjustment.
2) not really sure why your left eye would be giving you more of a problem, but not anything to worry about.
3) the only time my contacts sting is if they are not completely clean...after you remove them from the case, spray some saline over them while holding them in the palm of your hand, right before you put them in.
