Need answers for Subconjunctival hemorrhage in the eye.?!

Question:

Need answers for Subconjunctival hemorrhage in the eye.?

1 Week ago a spot about half the size of a pencil eraser came up on my left eye, bright red. Since I had just got a new perscription for new contacts the week before, I thought I'd wait to ask my optometrist on my followup in 2 more days. My optometrist told me to come back in 5 days to re-check as I had lost my one new left contact and had put one I had left from my last set (brand, new, same perscription, never opened, just different brand in this left eye. Optometrist more or less wanted me back in 5 days due to the fact I had 2 different brands in, I had no spares as he was trying me on this sample pair.) Yesterday my eye felt funny and I checked it and the spot is back again and my vision is somewhat blurry and I feel some pain and discomfort. I called Optometerist and he said to go to ER as he had to close his office due to lack of power. ER dr. told me my eye was fine and that spot was a coincidence and nothing was wrong. Should I be worried? I see opt. later today.

No coughing, no high blood pressure, no lasik, NOTHING has changed other than contacts and these were new. And its only 1 eye. And this spot has come back 6 days later as another or the same blood spot.

Answers:

Could be a subconj heme, could be allergies, could be a bad fit/irritation with the new contact. Tough to tell. But if it is a subconj heme, no big deal. Happens for no reason at all sometimes. Just use cold compresses within the first 48 hours, and then switch to warm compresses. It make take a while to go away. The larger the heme, more time it takes to go away, of course. Hope everything turns out well for you.
