Sudden failure of eyesight in children, what could be possible causes?
My niece just today suddenly yelled she cannot see, was brought to hosp wherein doctors could only point to a possible virus, as the cause for her sudden blindness. I think she was given antibiotics, as of now could see but could not identify colors yet. she's 6, normal kid. could it be airborne virus? or whatever?

Is it possible that she had some kind of accident or fall that you were unaware of? I know that falls can cause sudden blindness. Has she been unconscious or had some kind of seizure? These are the things that you need to check into. My best bet is some sort of head injury.
