The majority of simple conjunctivitis will go away on its own. You should cleanse the eyes frequently with previously boiled then cooled water. Wipe once only with each piece of Cotton wool, in one direction, from the nose side of the eye to the outside. Then discard and repeat with a fresh piece. Use different towels and flannels or you may spread it to another family member.
