Does everyone's eyes have to adjust to new glasses? Got mine yesterday and can't!

Question:

Does everyone's eyes have to adjust to new glasses? Got mine yesterday and can't see real well with them yet.

I haven't had new glasses in at least 5 years and my prescription has changed quite a bit in one eye. It is just that my new glasses are hard to see with, so I keep taking them off. I'm just wondering if I am the only one that is experiencing this (like maybe the prescription isn't right) or does everyone have this same sort of experience.

Answers:

From a professionals option: (optician for 5yrs..)

Give your eyes time to adjust. You did say you haven't had glasses in about 5 years and your prescription has changed "quite a bit," so technically your eyes plus your brain are still adjusting to the new, clearer vision.

Try for a week. If no improvement, then have the optician (the one who sold you the glasses) double check the lenses with the written prescription. If it's done correctly and still a problem, get a re-exam with your optometrist (normally free as long as done w/in 3 months from initial exam.)
